Serving New York For Over 25 Years
The former Jersey City Medical Center is a landmark Art Deco complex built between 1928 and 1941 that sat largely vacant for decades. In 2008, developer Metrovest transformed it into The Beacon, a residential community of condominiums and rentals. Metal Man Restoration handled the metal restoration for Buildings B and C, restoring bronze and steel casement windows and bronze entranceways, restoring a cast iron canopy, and fabricating new radiator grilles and railings.
After decades of vacancy, the metal elements of Buildings B and C had deteriorated, and their historic character demanded careful, preservation-grade work rather than wholesale replacement.
Metal Man Restoration restored the bronze and steel windows and entranceways and the cast iron canopy, and fabricated new radiator grilles and railings to match the originals, preserving the buildings’ historic detail through the conversion.
The metalwork was part of the rehabilitation of the complex, the largest Historic Preservation Tax Credit project in the nation at the time, ensuring this landmark would serve the community for generations.
