251 West 89th Street – Entranceway Restoration
Restoring the wrought iron entranceway of The Admaston at 251 West 89th Street, NYC: paint stripping,...
In April 2006, Metal Man Restoration was hired to restore the exterior bronze lighting fixtures and window hardware throughout Newark City Hall, including two large front-entrance fixtures and six smaller side-entrance fixtures. The restoration was carried out in our facility.
Years of weather and overpainting had left the bronze lighting fixtures and window hardware tarnished and grimy, masking the original finish and detail.
Metal Man Restoration stripped each fixture of old paint and grime and glass-bead blasted them back to clean bronze. The team then oxidized the metal to a statuary patina, leaving select areas in a bright satin bronze for contrast, and returned every fixture to working order.
The project earned the New Jersey Historical Restoration Award for the Exterior Restoration of Newark City Hall, recognizing the quality of the work.
